ARTIST Participation Details:

SYRACUSE CERAMIC GUILD ANNUAL

POTTERY & HOT ARTS FAIR: AUGUST 17 & 18, 2024

After a solid attendance in 2023 and committee vote, the annual Pottery & Hot Arts Fair will be returning to May Memorial on the usual third weekend in August.  We again invite Syracuse Ceramic Guild members and other exhibitors working in materials transformed by heat or fire to participate.

LOCATION:               May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society, 3800 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY.  

                                                Exhibitors will be in the Social Hall and Lobby area.                  

DATES/HOURS:         Friday, August 16, 2024            Set-up hours tentatively 1:00 - 7:00 PM

                                    Saturday, August 17, 2024         10:00 AM  -  5:00 PM

                                     Sunday, August 18, 2024           10:00 AM  -  4:00 PM followed by tear-down & clean-up

               *** Exhibitors and staff arrive No later than 9:00 AM on Saturday & Sunday. ***

                        *** Group Photo will be taken at 9:15 AM Saturday ***

The Registration Fee is $75.00 for Guild 2024 Members, $150.00 for Non-Guild Members. 

Sales will be handled at a central station.  The Guild will take a 20 percent commission.

DISPLAY GUIDELINES / SPACE ALLOCATION:  Displays will be arrayed along perimeter walls and in back-

to-back center islands.  There will be a limited number of MMUU folding tables available for use.  Otherwise,

exhibitors will need to provide their own table / display structure.  Display spaces will be approximately 3 feet by 8

feet.  Floorplan / space assignments will be planned after we know the number of Exhibitors participating.

 OPERATIONAL DETAILS

 SPECIAL FEATURES:  ClayTown and Glaze-Your-own Raku firing for hands-on clay exploration will be

located in the adjacent Memorial Garden area.  Wheel and Glass Blowing demonstration will also be in the

Garden area.  The Assemblage project will be located indoors. Volunteers are needed in these areas.   

 FOOD TRUCK:  Food Truck will be available for exhibitors, staff, and attendees.

 T-Shirts:   As last year we will have Guild T-shirts for the weekend fair.  An email with details will follow later.

 STAFFING ASSIGNMENTS:  Please indicate your own job preference (more than one) during the Pottery Fair -- and specify if there are any jobs you cannot physically perform.   

Everyone is needed to help out, exhibiting or not.    Pottery Fair works because we all work together!

 VINTAGE COLLECTION DISPLAY: Vintage work by former members acquired by the Guild will be for sale.  100% of Vintage sales go to the Guild.

 RAFFLE:  Admission ticket is good for one chance at the Raffle Table – or for free admission the second day.  Additional raffle tickets may be purchased at the Raffle table.

 CENTRAL CHECKOUT STATION - Exhibitors are not required / allowed to process individual sales transactions at their exhibit.  All sales / checkout transactions will be processed at the Central Checkout Station near the exit.

 SALES TAGS & INVENTORY SHEET:  As this Fair will have a Central Checkout Station for all exhibitors a controlled tagging system will be in place.  Exhibitors will be emailed detailed instruction with the Sales Tag template and Inventory sheet files.   A completed Inventory sheet will be collected during setup from Exhibitors for use by the Central Checkout Station.

 PUBLICITY & YOU: Pottery Fair postcards and posters will be available in May for exhibitors to hand out at shows prior to Pottery Fair.  Please display/distribute postcards at your other sales, hand them out wherever you can, provide them to galleries and share via your social media contacts.  You will also receive via email the postcard and a letter size poster – please print and post in your geographic area.  The Guild will not mail postcards, but will continue increasing electronic outreach, paid advertising, and posting on community calendars.  Please place postcards/posters on community bulletin boards in your neighborhood.  Lawn sign information will be available later.
